Adverbit <> Adverbs

Adverbs describe verbs. They tell us how something is being done. In English they usually end with -ly. In Finnish however, they usually (almost always actually) end with -sti.

All you have to do is add -sti to the stem of the adjective, like so:

nopeasti

Lause

Poika juoksee nopeasti.
Tyttö laulaa kauniisti.
Hän hymyilee iloisesti.
MInä kirjoitan hitaasti.

There is one exception to the rule. Hyvä becomes hyvin. Hän pelasi tosi hyvin.
